Nonlinear higher-order transient solver for magnetic fluid hyperthermia
نویسندگان
چکیده
The article is devoted to numerical methods for transient solution of Pennes’ bioheat equation as required for Magnetic Fluid Hyperthermia (MFH) modeling. Special attention has been paid to the role of non-linearity of blood perfusion and its influence on temperature distribution. The authors show that the higher-order time integration algorithms are highly advised for this type of problem, which should be classified as a stiff one. Popular low-order solvers give very different solutions. Furthermore, the application of adaptive time stepping scheme reduces calculation time and raises the efficiency of the simulation software. © 2014 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Evaluation of the Effects of Injection Velocity and Different Gel Concentrations on Nanoparticles in Hyperthermia Therapy
Background and objective: In magnetic fluid hyperthermia therapy, controlling temperature elevation and optimizing heat generation is an immense challenge in practice. The resultant heating configuration by magnetic fluid in the tumor is closely related to the dispersion of particles, frequency and intensity of magnetic field, and biological tissue properties. Methods: In this study, to solve he...
متن کاملSimulation of tissue heating by magnetic fluid hyperthermia
Objective: Magnetic fluid hyperthermia is a technique in which thermal energy is generated by magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) that are excited by an alternating magnetic field (AC field). During hyperthermia, in-vivo monitoring of elevation of temperature relies on invasive insertion of conventional thermometers, or employment of thermo-sensitive cameras that lack high precision....
متن کاملAnalysis of Transient Flow in the Case of Secondary Injection for Transient Vector Control (RESEARCH NOTE)
The purpose of this paper is to analyze the flow field structure in transient state and performance of secondary injection system for thrust vectoring in divergent section of a two-dimensional nozzle. Secondary injection for thrust vectoring in a two-dimensional nozzle is studied by solving three-dimensional Reynolds-averaged equations by means of fluent solver. Spalart-allmaras model was used ...
متن کاملNonlinear Instability of Coupled CNTs Conveying Viscous Fluid
In the present study, nonlinear vibration of coupled carbon nanotubes (CNTs) in presence of surface effect is investigated based on nonlocal Euler-Bernoulli beam (EBB) theory. CNTs are embedded in a visco-elastic medium and placed in the uniform longitudinal magnetic field. Using von Kármán geometric nonlinearity and Hamilton’s principle, the nonlinear higher order governing equations are deriv...
متن کاملNonlinear Flow-Induced Flutter Instability of Double CNTs Using Reddy Beam Theory
In this study, nonlocal nonlinear instability and the vibration of a double carbon nanotube (CNT) system have been investigated. The Visco-Pasternak model is used to simulate the elastic medium between nanotubes, on which the effect of the spring, shear and damping of the elastic medium is considered. Both of the CNTs convey a viscose fluid and a uniform longitudinal magnetic field is applied t...
